Inflection Point Solutions Sponsors and Coordinates 2008 Water and Wastewater CIO Forum
Inflection Point Solutions, co-founder of the Water and Wastewater CIO Forum, provides leadership of the 2008 event.
For the third consecutive year, Inflection Point Solutions (IPS)is pleased to have served as sponsor and conference coordinator for the Water and Wastewater CIO Forum SM. The 2008 Water and Wastewater CIO Forum SM was held at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (Deer Island) administrative offices on April 28th – April 30th, 2008. IPS is one of the co-founders of the CIO Forum, which began in 2006.
The Forum included twenty-six (26) representatives of mid-sized and large utilities nationwide, including such entities as Anchorage, AK; Broward County, FL; Colorado Springs Utilities, CO; Dallas, TX; Henderson, NV; MWD of Southern California; New York City, NY; and Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, MD; among others.
The two and a half day event began with a tour of MWRA’s Deer Island Treatment Plant (including a view from the top of the distinctive egg-shaped digesters).
Keynote presentations were provided by Joseph Badaracco, professor at Harvard Business School, who spoke on Quiet Leadership, the day-to-day decisions of managers that drive an organization and Martha Heller, ZRG Group, who addressed the challenges of recruiting quality Information Technology personnel in a highly competitive market.
The Forum learning sessions provided case studies and discussion on IT Standards, IT Strategic Planning, Web Technology, and Control System Security. Breakout sessions were conducted on these topics, as well as those chosen by the attendees, including IT Architectures – Improving Technology Efficiency, Business Case Development for IT Investment, and CMMS / Work Management System Challenges. Corey Williams, IPS Director of Utility Consulting Services, served as the facilitator of the entire Forum.
